Blue Skies Ahead

As some of you might know, the last two weeks have been miserably cold here in the south. Yesterday, however, the sun finally decided to shine so I took the weather as an opportunity to catch up on some outfit posts. If you follow me on Pinterest (if you don’t you can do so here) you may have noticed that I have been gaining a ton of inspiration from monochromatic looks and chambray shirts. I have been meaning to try a denim on denim look for awhile now, and yesterday I summoned up the courage to brave the cold and photograph my take on the popular trend.

When I first I got my pixie-cut back in high school, I shied away from boyish pieces in order to preserve a little more of my femininity. After I started college, however, I began to embrace my androgynous side a little more by incorporating items, such as blazers, into my closet. I specifically love this floral one from Missguided, which I actually purchased as a set with matching floral shorts – so fun! I channeled a monochromatic look by wearing my chambray shirt and tucking it into my jeans and added a feminine pop to the look with my red heels, one of the more delicate pieces in my closet. After going back and forth on accessories, I decided to embrace the simplicity of the look by wearing a single drop down pearl rather than a chunky or jeweled necklace. This outfit was a little out of my comfort zone at first, but after walking out the door I felt oh so confident!
