Spring Chic

We’ll y’all, looks like our snow might finally be gone (at least for a little while). Don’t get me wrong, I love winter, but all of this snow and ice has been rather annoying recently. Although I did enjoy my days out of class, sometimes a girl just needs some sunshine. Today’s look is an homage to springtime. I am secretly hoping that my bright teal (sweater)dress, my favorite floppy sunhat and some adorable cut-out sandals will attract some warmer weather. However, I have added a comfy cream cardigan, just incase I get a little chilly on my commute across campus. I am loving this warm, but bright, outfit and it definitely has me dreaming of spring!

Friday Flare… Casual take on flare denim

Today’s outfit is the definition of “casual Friday.” The weather around here has dropped dramatically, with temperatures getting down in the single digits, so I have spent my days bundled up in my warmest sweater. Today is no exception, but I am adding a little more flare (heh, see what I did there) to my typical winter get-up. In a world of skinny jeans, flare denim is slowly beginning to claim its territory in our closets. I have been stalking this trend on Pinterest, but being as short as I am, I have been afraid of trying it. But, when I passed this amazing pair of jeans at Forever 21 (I know, right?!) I just had to have them. I am absolutely loving the tailored twist they give to my plain-jane outfit. I am slowly discovering that adding flare to your jeans can add flair to your entire day! I can’t wait to experiment more with this growing trend!

Grey’s Anatomy. A monochromatic spring look.

I love color and I love pattern even more, so it takes one heck of an outfit for me to give up both of those things (or maybe it’s the disgusting amount of Grey’s Anatomy I’ve been watching recently). My Pinterest board (follow me here) is full of monochromatic outfits, it is a trend that can go anywhere from the color gray, to the color yellow and anything in-between. Today I decided to tackle the popular look using different shades of grey. Throw in some basic winter (spring?) layering and I have the perfect outfit for a day on campus. I mean, come on, I am a graphic designer, how could this ampersand dress belong anywhere but the art building? With a dolman sweater and a pair of slip on sneakers and I have an outfit ready for my daily trek across my huge college campus and any sudden changes in weather.

Falling in Love

Fall is officially here! Fall in Arkansas is gorgeous, but I am not ready to give up my favorite summer items! Everyone has their own secrets when it comes to transitioning between seasons, here are mine!

workweek

During the work week I like to keep things more a bit more structured. A fitted blazer and a neutral pair of heels are the perfect way to dress up this romper! A natural stone necklace and a bright lip add a bit more interest to my work day, while still keeping my look professional.

weekend

Weekends are the perfect time to play with color! I layered a flowy maxi-skirt over my romper to create the illusion of a shirt and skirt. I love the combination of teal and red and this romper makes the perfect base! This outfit is perfect for a trip to the farmer’s market and lunch with friends!

sunday

Sunday is here so I am keeping my look casual and comfy! I LOVE the mix of subtle stripes and the vibrant floral pattern. This oversized sweater is perfect for cuddling up on the couch or a quick stroll around the block!
